This year's event honors Citizen Diplomats and community leaders Tom and Kathy Jennings with the 2017 Citizen Diplomats of the Year Award for their commitment to Philadelphia’s international community and over 20 years of engagement with Citizen Diplomacy International. Through the Philadelphia Sister Cities program, the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor’s Leadership Program and other international exchange programs, Tom and Kathy have opened their homes to dozens of emerging leaders from across the globe and demonstrated American’s personal commitment to community service and civic engagement. Their focus on engaging friends and family in diplomatic activities ensures that future generations continue the work of making peace and that foreign exchange participants complete their travels with a positive impression of Philadelphia and its people.
